Ho Chi Minh City Nam Sai Gon Polytechnic College was established upon the upgrading of District 8 -Vocational Training Center to District 8 Vocational School, then renamed as Nam Sai Gon Technical and Professional High School, then upgraded to Nam Sai Gon Technical and Professional College and now is Nam Sai Gon Polytechnic College with the following legal decisions:

– Decision No. 73/QD-UB, on August 6th , 1985 of District 8 People’s Committee on the establishment of District 8-Vocational Training Center.

– Decision No. 3702/QD-UB-VX, on July 17th , 1998 of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on transforming  District 8 Vocational Training Center into District 8 Professional Secondary School of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.

– Decision No. 7346/QD-UB-VX, on November 30th , 1999 of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on transforming the District 8 Professional Secondary School into the Nam Sai Gon Vocational High School of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.

– Decision No. 2634/QD-UBND, on May 28th , 2009 of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on changing the name of Nam Sai Gon Vocational High School into Nam Sai Gon Vocational College.

– Decision 757/QD-LDTBXH, on June 18th , 2018 of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on the establishment of Nam Sai Gon Polytechnic College.
